This system is designed and built by Solar Illuminations to order as a custom or semi-custom system, as per your requirements. This includes the nightly illumination time.
Our FL21 solar flexible LED ribbon light kit is supplied with a reel of weatherproof LED ribbon that has 3M® self-adhesive backing so that it can be installed onto almost any type of surface. The ribbon is typically about 16' (4.5m) long and contains up to 300 LEDs offering a high lumen output. This system can be designed with shorter or longer lengths of LED ribbon as a custom solution. This system is designed to operate dusk to dawn each night. For installations in locations that experience harsh winter weather, or low sun levels, a higher powered solar panel and/or larger capacity batteries may be required. The kit is supplied with the light ribbon, a metal battery box, a programmable MPPT charge controller, a solar panel, and two 12 Volt rechargeable batteries. The lockable battery box is supplied with outlets for the solar panel and light fixtures to plug in to. When the system is in the on position the light will turn on automatically at sunset and will stay illuminated until the set amount of time. The charge controller can be programmed to illuminate from dusk to dawn, turn off after a certain amount of hours, or it can use a dual timer option. The dual timer allows the light to activate at dusk and illuminate for X hours, switch off, and then turn back on for X hours prior to sunrise. The solar panel and light ribbon are supplied with several feet of cable, so they can be mounted away from the battery box if needed. Choice of LED colors (including warm white, daylight white, and cool white) are available. The RGB system enables the user to select almost any color using a remote control. This system can offer a dimmer control. RGB systems can offer the same as well as several modes including color changing, chase, fade, pulse etc. Color of other parts of the system are grey.
Typical Applications
The ribbon has a low profile so it can be attached into the tightest of spaces for discrete lighting or surface mount it for eye catching results. LED ribbon is highly versatile and is often left to the installer’s imagination to come up with the best ideas. Perfect for use where electricity is unavailable or for locations where electricity would be too difficult or too costly to install. This system is ideal for illuminating a variety of different types of signs including monument signs, sign cabinets and channel lettering.

The RGB system includes an RGB controller and a compact remote control to select colors and modes.
The RGB system allows colors to be dimmable and also different modes such as chasing, fading, color changing, pulsing etc.
The weatherproof LED ribbon has approx. 17' (5m) of pre-wired cable to connect to the battery box.
The LED ribbon is weather rated to I.P. 67 and has a 3M® self-adhesive backing.
Battery
One or two deep cycle, AGM 12 Volt batteries are included.
Larger capacity batteries may be required depending on the site geographic location, LED power, nightly illumination time and/or other factors.

12 Volt DC system.
Battery capacity options are 18AH, 32AH, 55AH, 79AH, 92AH, 105AH etc.
Batteries must be connected together in parallel so that capacity is doubled.
GEL or lithium batteries are available as an option.
Battery Box
A remote battery box is supplied to accommodate the batteries, and charge controller.
The battery box has a hinged lid which is lockable (padlock not included).
The battery box has a receptacle (socket) for the solar panel, and each light to connect to.
The metal battery box is approx. 18.12” x 14.38” x 11.18”(46cm x 36.5cm x 28.4cm) LxWxD.
Dimensions including lid over-hang and side flanges are approx. 21.25” x 15.38” x 11.18” (51cm x 39cm x 28.4cm) LxWxD.
Solar Panel
An aluminum framed 70 Watt solar panel is included. A higher wattage solar panel may be required depending on the site geographic location, LED power, nightly illumination time and/or other factors.

The solar panel is fitted with approximately 17' (5m) of pre-plugged cable.
Mounting frames are included to allow the solar panel to attach to a vertical or horizontal surface.

Control Module
Supplied with a MPPT charge controller which automatically controls the solar panel power, battery charging and lighting function and operation.

This MPPT charge controller is programmed by Solar Illuminations as per your requirements and system ability.
Lighting control features illumination from dusk to dawn (where applicable), or on at dusk for X amount of hours then off, or on at dusk for X amount of hours, then off, then back on again for X amount of hours before dawn.
Dimming option (where applicable) allows the lighting to dim at any time during the illumination time.
The dimming option or any other illumination mode can be used in conjunction with motion activation (where applicable).
Dimming may be at any percentage from 1-99%.

Please note: Upon installation and power-up the controller goes into a 7 day evaluation mode where smart monitoring and configurations commence. Additional evaluation with self-managing adjustments may continue for up to 7 more days. This is all part of the smart feature that enables this intelligent controller to understand its use, the application, the surrounding environment and the current conditions. During this time some of its programmed features may differ temporarily. This is a perfectly normal process and must be accepted during that time. During this time the controller will adjust to the current condition and charge status of the batteries. It is therefore recommended that all batteries are 100% fully charged before connection using an appropriate battery charger. This may significantly reduce the evaluation mode time of 7+7 days to much less. The solar panel(s) should be connected to the MPPT charge controller first, followed by the fully charged batteries.
Installation
Easy to install. All connections are simply plug & play.
Two special mounting frames are included to allow the solar panel to attach to a vertical or horizontal surface with two hole pre-drilled into each section of the frame.
A pair of triangle shaped support frames are supplied for the solar panel.

This product is a special order and is non-returnable except in the event of a fault (during its warranty period) when the product, once returned will be repaired or replaced. The solar panel must be installed in a location where it can receive full direct sunshine (when available) and usually set facing South at an appropriate angle (where adjustment options allow). The solar panel must not be installed in a shaded or part shaded location and never indoors. The standard specifications of the system (particularly the solar panel Wattage and battery capacity) may need to be adjusted. These components are determined by your geographic location, power consumption (LED Wattage) and the total amount of hours of illumination time required. Such changes to the standard specifications may increase or decrease the cost shown. Please contact us for more information or assistance. The illumination time is estimated and subject to various factors including (but not limited to) geographic location, seasons, temperature, weather conditions & location of product etc. The illumination time of most solar lights can reduce during winter months when the weather is poor and the days are shorter. During this time insolation hours decrease accordingly. Shorter illumination time due to one or more of the above factors does not define the product as being ‘defective’ or ‘not as described’. All solar lights must be used in a completely dark location at night time otherwise they may not illuminate. Nearby strong lighting sources or ambient lighting may affect the operation of a solar light. This does not define the product as being 'defective' or 'not as described'. Please note, if you do not install or use this product for several months the battery may discharge naturally on its own. By allowing a battery to deep discharge it may cause irreversible damage as the battery may then lose the ability to recharge or hold a full charge.
